Since 1992 in Oba
We opened in 1992, here in Oba. Alanya was smaller then, and so were we. The same neighbourhood has been around us for more than thirty years. Some of the people who sat here as children now come in with their own children. The menu grew. The terrace grew. The kitchen learned new things. What has not changed is simple: long tables, the same cooking every day, and no hurry about when you leave.
The rooms in this story are still here, so look around them yourself in the 360° virtual tour below, photographed by G360.
We served our first guests here in 1992. Oba was quieter then, and most of the people who came in lived a few streets away. They came in the morning for breakfast, in the evening for dinner, and later for a drink on the way home. That pattern never really broke. Neighbours first, then their friends, then people who heard about the place from them. Thirty years on, the same street is still the heart of our week.
Our tables are long on purpose. Two people sit down, four more arrive, and nobody has to move. On the terrace there is live music every evening, so people stay later than they planned. Children have their own ground here, the largest playground of any restaurant in Alanya, with children's dances and family nights. In the 360° virtual tour you can stand on the terrace and look at it from the doorway.
Early on we stopped choosing between Turkish cooking and the rest of the world. One menu carries both: pizza, fresh seafood, world cocktails, and the English breakfast that comes to the table in a cast iron skillet from nine every morning. The house now holds all of it at once. Breakfast early, families through the afternoon, the bar and live music at night.
